Unhappiness at having to work for an aggressive boss

Andrew’s boss left. They had got on really well, but that was now over. His new boss was very aggressive and didn’t seem to be reasonable at all. Andrew never liked conflict, and was happy to do a good job and get on with it without the politics, so he was very apprehensive. During one of our mentoring sessions, this issue arose, and I explored the situation further. By the end of the session, having originally been quite down, Andrew was now laughing at how he had managed to turn around his victim state to a proactive one, where he was going to have fun learning how to train his new boss to be reasonable and work well together.
